THINKING BIBLICALLY ABOUT THE ELECTION RESULTS

Rev. Mark Robinson

The Blue Wave of the 2026 mid-term elections turned into a Tsunami. The defeat of the Republicans/Conservatives was perhaps the worst in American political history in the last 100 years according to some commentators. As shattering as the political landscape looks for conservatives, what does this forebode for Bible believing Christians?

It is impossible for a committed Bible believing Christian to support the agenda of the Democrat party. A party that supports abortion on demand, homosexual marriages, mutilation of children through transgender practices, and anti-Semitism, among other issues, is a godless, anti-Bible party. Though a pastor won the Senate seat in Kansas and a “seminarian” won the seat in Texas for the Democrats, these “Christians” are wolves in sheep’s clothing and NOT Bible believing Christians!

What is needed now, more than ever, is discernment. The focus of a Bible believing Christian MUST NOT be on the election results and the political winds of the U.S.A. The Bible believing Christian MUST focus on understanding the results, our world, Israel, and where our focus MUST be based, on the Word of God and God’s prophetic plan and time.

Following are some things to consider in light of the Bible, prophecy, and the unique period of history we are living.

1.      NO POLITICAL PARTY WILL SAVE US

Many Bible believing Christians are too much focused on the Republican party, Donald Trump, or other conservative movements/hopes. I am aware of some members of the independent, Bible believing, Baptist church I attend leaving the church because the church did not support the Republican party and candidates publicly.

This may be difficult for some to accept, but biblically, this world’s system, which includes politics, is controlled by Satan. He is the god of this world, John 16:11, 2 Corinthians 4:3-4, Ephesians 6:12, 1 John 5:19. In the temptation of Jesus by Satan, Luke 4:5-7, Satan shows Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and tells Him, “All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.” Jesus never says that Satan doesn’t have this authority over the kingdoms. In other words, Satan does have authority over all the kingdoms of this world. He rebukes Satan by telling him only God is to be worshiped, not that he is wrong in his statement of authority over the kingdoms of this world.

In fact, biblically, the kingdoms of this world, all the governments and their political systems, won’t become Jesus’ until the end of the Tribulation. When the seventh Trumpet judgment of Revelation is opened we are told, “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever,” Revelation 11:15.

The focus of a Bible believing Christians MUST be to “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth,” Colossians 3:2. To vote is not wrong. To pray for God’s will to be done (not necessarily a Republican victory) is not wrong. To put your hope for this country in the Republican (or any political party) is wrong, and biblically, a losing proposition.

Dispensational theology, which the Bible teaches, tells us that EVERY political system will ultimately “self-destruct” because its head is Satan and, ultimately, the majority of its proponents are children of the Devil.

If we focus on the Lord, we might be disappointed in the results of an election, but we won’t be demoralized, crushed, or disillusioned. We will try to understand what in the world (or the U.S.) Is God doing?

2.      ISRAEL IS THE KEY

The rebirth of Israel as a nation among the nations of the world is THE sign that the end times prophetic clock has started. Passages such as Zephaniah 2:1-2, Ezekiel 37:1-11, and, most importantly, Isaiah 11:10-12 which tells us , “And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. And it shall come to
pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”

“In that day” is speaking of the previous nine verses which describes the coming reign of Jesus in the millennium kingdom. I have highlighted the extremely important part that tells us the SECOND time the Jewish people are brought back from dispersion is the time the kingdom of God will be established on earth. The first time was from Babylonian captivity and the second time is from world-wide captivity. In 1948 the Jewish people were brought back to the land of Israel, a nation was born, and God’s prophetic time clock started.

Don’t miss this! This is of the utmost importance in understanding the unique time in history we live. The time of Jesus’ return to earth to set up His kingdom!

3.      IRAN IS NOT GOING AWAY

The Trump administration, with some exceptions, but certainly the President himself, is convinced he made the right decision in bombing the nuclear sites of Iran and, along with Israel, attacking the country. It matters little what you or I think about the war with Iran.

The question is what does the future hold in light of the election results? On July 19, 2026 I taught a lesson to the Sunday School class that I teach and discussed Iran in Prophecy and what might develop. Here are my three conclusions.

1.   The Ezekiel 38-39 battle takes place just prior to the middle of the 7-year Tribulation.
2.   Persia (Iran) is listed as being aligned with Russia in this invasion means they will continue as a nation into the Tribulation.
3.   Using SANCTIFIED SPECULATION, it seems that Iran will remain an emaciated Islamic regime and when given the opportunity to destroy Israel by joining with Russia, they align with Russia in this final battle.

The election results only reinforce my above three points. The Democrats, along with some Republicans, are adamantly opposed to any war with Iran. With control of the house and the Senate they will push for an end to the war, and if successful, leaving Iran as an “emaciated Islamic regime.”

In point #6, I mention a sermon/article of mine titled, “The Late, Great, United States of America.” An Iran left as it is today will do all it can to develop one or many nuclear bombs. As with the Obama and Biden administration, a future Democrat administration will not hinder Iran’s develop of a nuclear bomb and, perhaps, facilitate its development in one way or another.

If so, would an angry, humiliated Iran seek retribution against the Great Satan, America, by unleashing a nuclear bomb or two on the U.S.? As this article mentions in point #6, America is not in Bible prophecy. Is an Iranian nuclear bomb or two the tool that takes America out of Bible prophecy? This is not beyond the realm of possibility.

Biblically, Iran is a country in the Tribulation period. The U.S.A. has no such promise.

4.      THE CHURCH IS RAPTURED BEFORE THE SEVEN YEAR TRIBULATION

There are a number of reasons for a pre-tribulation rapture. In my opinion, three reasons are paramount.

First, the distinction between Israel and the Church places the rapture BEFORE the seven-year Tribulation starts. The 70 Week prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 leaves the church out of the final “week,” seven-year period of Daniel’s prophecy.

In the prophecy there is a 490 year time period that is broken into different time segments. In the entire 490 years, only Israel is addressed and the Church is never mentioned or present. There is a time parenthesis between the 483rd year and the last 7 years. The last 7 years is the Tribulation period.

Consider the following. Israel and Church overlap in history at the beginning of the Church age. To be consistent Israel and Church should overlap in history at the end of the Church age, but NOT in the final 7 years. This is what is happening today. To not have the Church in the final seven years, as it was not in the first 483 years, means there MUST be a pre-Tribulation rapture removing the Church before the Tribulation starts.

Second, the clear teaching of the Bible is the IMMINENT return of Jesus. This means nothing has to happen prophetically for the rapture to occur. If the rapture is sometime during the final 7-year Tribulation period there MUST be a number of prophecies fulfilled. The only timing of the rapture that meets the position of imminency is the pre-Tribulation rapture.

Third, the scripture teaches the rapture precedes God’s wrath, 1 Thessalonians 5:9. Since the Seal Judgments of Revelation are at the beginning of the Tribulation and they are identified as God’s wrath, Revelation 6:12-17, especially verse 17, the rapture must come prior to the start of the Seal Judgements, prior to the start of the 7-year Tribulation.

5.      THE U.S. AS WELL AS ALL NATIONS WILL TURN AGAINST ISRAEL.

The hatred of Israel in the Democrat party is breath-taking. It wasn’t too long ago that the Democrat party was very supportive of Israel. This started to change under the Obama administration and was continued under the Biden administration. Donald Trump has been a major supporter of Israel and a great friend but his time in office will soon be over.

The mid-term elections brought many Democrats into office who hate Israel, yes hate, and spread lies about her. The lie of Israeli genocide in Gaza has been debunked but this doesn’t matter to many Democrats. A prime example is the election to the Senate of the Jew-hating Muslim Democrat Socialist named Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed from Michigan. Among other repugnant opinions, El-Sayed isn’t sure (he is sure Israel is the greater threat but won’t say it publicly) if Israel or Iran is the greater threat to America.

Unfortunately, this hatred is also seen on the right of political conversation. Podcasters such as Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens hate Israel with a demonic passion. The hatred of Israel will become more and more prominent in conservative circles.

Vice-President Vance in his first statement about the election debacle stated the following, “Beyond ending the war, Vance argued that Republicans must address the cost of living, recommit to an America First agenda and ‘change our relationship to Israel.’”

Change our relationship to Israel? Vance’s public statements about Israel have always been problematic. His continued support of “his friend” Tucker Carlson is revealing. Carlson is an antisemitic, Israel bashing, holocaust denying, liar. Any person with a shred of morality and decency would publicly denounce and repudiate Carlson and his vitriol. Why won’t Vance?

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem,” Zechariah 12:2. We are close to the beginning of the Tribulation period beginning. As we have seen since the unbridled hate of HAMAS and the Gaza Palestinians against Israel on October 7, 2023, nations and people are turning against Israel. Expect this to continue. It will continue in the U.S. with the Democrat party and, if J.D. Vance happens to become President in 2028, in my opinion, will accelerate under his administration. Regardless of who is President in 2028, the U.S. will turn against Israel.

6.      ANTI-SEMITISM WILL INCREASE

This point closely aligns with the previous point. For 40 years I have been teaching in my sermons and writings that anti-Semitism will grow not only around the world, but in the U.S. as well. In the middle part of the 1980s I preached a sermon on “The Late, Great United States of America.” (You can read it on my website https://israelshope.org/the-late-great-united-states-of-america/). My main point was that America is NOT in prophecy. Isaiah 47 lists 6 things that caused the destruction of the nation of Babylon. America is like Babylon. The first of these destruction causing things was anti-Semitism.

The scripture teaches us that the last days will bring an increase in anti-Semitism, Jeremiah 16:14-16, Psalm 110:1-3, Zechariah 12:1-3. Most informative, Revelation 12:12-13 tells us, “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.” Satan, the Dragon, hates the world but hates Jewish people with a special passion. The Jewish people are the people of God’s promise and His focus for world redemption. Thus, Satan’s desire to destroy the Jewish people, anti-Semitism.

The turning of the Democrat party to anti-Semitic beliefs and the soon turning of the Republican party to the same belief will isolate Israel from the nations of the world and their current best friend. This is Bible. This is prophecy. This is as certain as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.

CONCLUSION

Bible-believing Christians should abhor the direction the U.S. is going. We should be in opposition to all these unbiblical trends in our country and even many churches.

But we can’t change Biblical truth and the course of prophecy. What is written is written.

Thus, we should look to the heavens, “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ,” Titus 2:13.
Our ONLY HOPE is Jesus and His return.
